The Director of the Agency as an Honorary speaker on the “Day of Foreign Direct Investments at the Think Global Conference

Dejan Pavleski, Director of the Agency, today was an Honorary speaker, on the first day of “THE THINK GLOBAL CONFERENCE 2021” of the International Trade Council, FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT DAY. His online presentation title was “Investment and Trade Opportunities” of the country.

In addition to the presentation of the Director for the entire duration of the event, Invest North Macedonia will be present with a virtual booth with opportunities for presentations and meetings in real time, online. Numerous of our domestic, export-oriented companies will also be present and presented.

The Think Global Conference is the largest event in the world for export-oriented companies. With 23,000 C-level participants from 79 countries, this forum is an educational and networking platform where participants can learn about new trends, exchange ideas, tackle the challenges they face and the opportunity to potentially meet. with their next investor, supplier or customer. The Global Conference is attended by companies of all sizes – from Fortune 500 companies and medium-sized companies to small businesses and startups.

2020 with 15% higher export of fruit and vegetable processing industry

The total export of fruit and vegetable processing industry in 2020 amounted the record of €68.5M, which is 15% more than 2019, shows the analysis presentation of using COVID-19 measures and instruments by this industry in 2020 and export potentials of the companies, created by Macedonian Association of Processors (MAP).

Invest North Macedonia participated in a video conference organized by MAP and supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation as part of the Program to increase market employability.

We continuously provide financial support to companies in this sector through measures by the Law of financial support for investments, using a web portal for export promotion and trainings for companies.

“Brako” – new investment worth of €8M

Innovative eco-friendly sweeper using green technology promoted

The Director of Invest North Macedonia Dejan Pavleski, as part of the government economic team, led by the Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, attended the promotion of the new hydrogen fuel cell sweeper 100% powered by hydrogen GM 500 H2. The revolutionary ecological innovation produced under the brand “Green Machines”, owned by “Brako”, Veles.

In addition, the company is investing €8M in new production facilities, which is a significant step in a global pandemic. As part of the new investment cycle, the company has invested in advanced CNC control technology, a new plant for complete environmentally friendly galvanizing, new line production equipment, and a new canteen for employees. Despite the crisis, the company increased the number of employees and now are more than 600 people.

The company is among the most technologically advanced in the country and with 95% of the production intended for export to over 30 countries worldwide.

Invest North Macedonia & Investment office of Turkey, Experience Sharing Program

Mediated by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Invest North Macedonia and The Investment Office of the Presidency of Turkey held a video conference to exchange experiences in the field of promotion and attraction of foreign investments.

During the all-day session, participants from both institutions shared valuable information about the institutional structure and the way of promoting and attracting investments, as well as the difficulties faced by the agencies during the Covid crisis and positive experiences and practices.

Additionally, the representatives of Turkey presented their new strategy for FDI, while Invest North Macedonia representatives presented the activities for promotion and support of the export potentials of the Macedonian companies.

Such exchange and sharing programs are merely a starting point for potential closer cooperation. It was agreed to begin activities for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions in order to deepen cooperation.

A visit of a Turkish delegation to the Agency has been announced when there will be conditions for that, in the context of the Covid pandemic.

Japanese Ambassador visits Invest North Macedonia

Director Dejan Pavleski had a working meeting with the Japanese Ambassador H.E. Hironori Sawada. The Ambassador of Japan conveyed the expressed interest of Japanese companies for investing in North Macedonia. The investment potentials of the country and the export potentials of Macedonian companies were presented at the meeting.

In the coming period, there will be activities to promote trade cooperation, for which there is great potential, primarily for the export of Macedonian products to the Japanese market, but also for activities to encourage Japanese companies to invest in our country.

ICT: The fastest growing sector in 2020

Export of ICT services increased for 10,7%  and reached more than €241M in 2020:

·         €215M export of computer services,

·         €16M export of telecommunications services and

·         €10.8M export of information services.

Compared to the previous 5 years, exports increased by 61%. The growth is significantly higher in the part of computer services, which in the past five years has increased by 131%.

The largest export markets for Macedonian IT companies are the United States, Germany, Serbia, Bulgaria and Albania.
