Visit of an IMF Representative to the Agency for foreign investments and export promotion

At today’s meeting in the Agency, the director held talks with Rimtautas Bartkus, the representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from Washington, as part of their “Fact-finding mission.”

The main topic of discussion was the current state of foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction and the identification of key future steps to improve this area.

The Agency presented the latest foreign investments announced by the Government, highlighting that a significant number of existing investors have decided to reinvest their profits. The main reasons cited for this were the favorable business climate, highly qualified workforce, excellent geographical position, and government support through tax incentives and financial support for investors in the production sector.

The meeting also addressed the Agency’s current activities and the necessary steps to improve results in attracting new FDI and promoting exports.

Invest North Macedonia supports domestic companies at SUBEX 2024 in Pristina, Strengthening regional economic ties

Invest North Macedonia is participating for the third time in the Suppliers Balkan Expo 2024, which this year is being held for the first time in Pristina, Kosovo.

The event is one of the largest and most influential in the Balkans, aimed at promoting suppliers from various industries, providing a unique platform for establishing connections and creating new business opportunities between buyer companies from the EU and supplier companies from the Western Balkans.

At the Suppliers Balkan Expo (SUBEX), 300 representatives from companies in Germany, the EU, and the region are participating, and over 250 B2B meetings will take place throughout the day.

As part of its strategy to support Macedonian companies and develop export potential, the Agency has provided support for five companies from the domestic industry to participate as exhibitors at this event, from the ICT sector, the electro-metal industry, and the wood industry. Through direct interaction with potential partners and investors, Macedonian companies will have the opportunity to promote their products, services, and expertise on an international level.

This event represents an excellent opportunity to strengthen economic ties between the Balkan countries and beyond, with a particular emphasis on innovation, technology, and sustainability in industrial processes.

During a recent visit to Italy, the Director of the Agency, Refik Xhemaili met with two companies from the agribusiness and food processing sectors in Caserta. The discussions highlighted North Macedonia’s potential and opportunities for collaboration.

One of the companies, which has been active in the North Macedonian market for the past month, expressed interest in expanding its presence.

The second company, operating in the agribusiness sector, has strong potential for establishing business partnerships with Macedonian companies. Exciting prospects for future cooperation!

The visit was supported by the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) and the Italian Chamber of Commerce for the Republic of North Macedonia (Camera di Commercio Italiana per la Repubblica di Macedonia del Nord).

Successful Business Forum in Caserta: North Macedonia strengthens economic ties with Italy

September 23, 2024 – The Agency for Foreign Investments and Export Promotion, in collaboration with CACIM – Italian Chamber of Commerce for the Republic of North Macedonia, and supported by the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) and the World Bank, successfully organized a business forum in Caserta. The event attracted representatives from various industries, including agribusiness, food processing, metal industry, electronics, wood industry, and the financial sector.

The forum was opened by Enrico Petrella, President of the Italian-Macedonian Chamber of Commerce, who emphasized the importance of economic cooperation between Italy and North Macedonia, as well as the interest of Italian companies in expanding their businesses in North Macedonia.

In his address, the Director of the Agency, Refik Xhemaili, stated: “The relations between North Macedonia and Italy are based on mutual respect and cooperation. Italy has been our long-standing partner, and we believe that North Macedonia can be a key pathway for Italian companies looking to expand their activities in the Balkans and beyond.”

The Agency presented detailed information on the strategic advantages of North Macedonia, its favorable business climate, growth and development potentials in key industries, and the country’s stable macroeconomic policies.

The Mayor of Caserta, Giorgio Magliocca, also spoke at the forum, along with esteemed guests from the political and social life of Caserta and presidents of several business chambers from Italy. In their remarks, they highlighted the political stability of North Macedonia, the business-oriented policies of the Government, the signed trade agreements, and regional partners as key factors for investment.

The forum also noted significant interest in investing in agriculture, food processing, and the financial sector. This is just the beginning of new initiatives and projects that will contribute to the economic development of both countries.
